While the crash of the real estate market was nationwide and eventually into some other countries as well, it is the local real estate market that tells the real story. This is the root of where we can see the story of what happened to our real estate and housing market.
The Kansas City real estate story is much like other places in the country, but the individual stories tell the tale. At the height of the real estate lots of ground were selling for record high amounts. In a relatively short period of time the value of land sky rocketed. Many people had bought and sold real estate and made a bundle of money from it. However, the prices inflated too high and the government did not intervene when it should have and some companies along with financial institutions became too creative and qualified too many bad loans and that caused the eventual crash.
The employees in the market were the ones to first feel the effects of the crash. In Kansas City there were a lot of real estate professionals that were suddenly without work. They were unable to pay their bills and they started to lose their own homes. Of course, all of this caused ripple effects in all kinds of industries and that caused more people to lose jobs. It has been a spiraling effect that has been hard to slow down, much less stop.
The story of the people of Kansas City is much like any other town in America. Some towns escaped with less damage, but none escaped the collateral damage all together. In fact, it is likely safe to say that the recession and high unemployment rate has touched every family in some regard. In some cases it has devastated families as multiple husbands and fathers as well as wives and mothers lost their jobs and found themselves fighting to keep their home, many times losing the battle. No one has seemed to be exempt from its reach.
The spirit of the people of this country is dictating that they fight and claw their way back into a good economy. However, it is a long hard road and it is one that many would argue the government has not helped with. The people of this country and of the city of Kansas City, like every other town in America, will continue to fight and persevere until they have climbed out of the recession. The Kansas City real estate market will once again be what it once was.
